The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall across several regions in India.
Areas expected to experience significant rainfall today include the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Delhi.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and thunderstorms could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily life, particularly in urban areas. Lightning strikes pose a significant risk to life and property in the affected regions, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Transportation services, including road and rail, may face delays or disruptions due to water accumulation. Agricultural activities in the impacted states could also be affected by the heavy downpours.
